NOOR Survivor-Advocates

NOOR is a powerful advocate-led voice, where migrant and refugee communities with lived experience can reclaim our narrative, to influence and transform the system. Our purpose is to embed diverse and intersectional voices at all levels to drive change in systemic approaches to family violence, and to achieve meaningful, sustainable change in the social collective consciousness on family violence.

Meet Shweta

I’m an award-winning educator, researcher, motivational speaker, and self-care strategist committed to building a more compassionate, inclusive, and culturally-informed world.

With a PhD in Education focusing on the work-life balance of women in STEM fields, I advocate for gender equity, emotional well-being, and spiritual resilience—especially for marginalised and underrepresented communities.

My journey has been one of profound transformation. As a survivor of domestic violence and a single mother, I rebuilt my life by drawing strength from cultural wisdom, emotional healing practices, and the unwavering support of my community. These lived experiences, alongside my professional background in education and psychology, fuel my passion for justice, empathy, and systemic change.
