inTouch CEO Michal Morris Inducted into Victorian Women’s Honour Roll

12th October, 2022

inTouch Multicultural Centre Against Family Violence CEO, Michal Morris was this week inducted into the 2022 Victorian Women’s Honour Roll, acknowledging a long career ensuring the safety, health and wellbeing of diverse communities across the state.

Ms Morris was nominated in the category of Leading Through Disaster, recognising her strong leadership of inTouch throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and her tireless advocacy for the safety and support of vulnerable women on temporary visas during this time.
inTouch Chair, Miriam Silva AM, congratulated Ms Morris and said that she has led the organisation through a challenging and critical period in which demand for inTouch’s services grew by 116%.

“It became apparent that some of inTouch’s most vulnerable clients would be the most at-risk during the height of the pandemic as well as migrant and refugee women on temporary visas,” Ms Silva said.
“Michal’s work advocating for financial assistance for this group, as well as the creation of inTouch’s Emergency Relief Program addressed these needs directly, with 362 women receiving 694 packages containing food, inlanguage health information and hygiene products in 2020 alone.”

“Under her leadership, inTouch has grown by 50% in both capacity and capability. She heads a team of
approximately 50 staff coming from over 20 different countries and communities globally. She has embedded inTouch with values and compassion and is a champion of keeping our communities safe and connected.”

Ms Morris was honoured by the announcement.

“I’m delighted to be a part of such a fantastic and diverse group of women- especially on International Day of the Girl. I am inspired constantly by the strong women around me, both in my personal and professional life, and cannot wait to see what achievements Victorian women bring to the Honour Roll in future.”
