Description
This session, delivered by a guest speaker from the Centre for Culture, Ethnicity & Health (CEH), introduces CEH’s framework for spoken communication as a practical guide to strengthen practitioner-client interactions. The framework will be used as an anchor to explore how values, preferences, and culture influence communication, and how practitioners can adapt their style to support client trust, clarity, and service access.
Participants will unpack how using plain language, alongside other key tools from the framework, can improve engagement with clients from migrant and refugee backgrounds. You'll also explore how understanding different communication styles can make you more confident and responsive in everyday practice.
Learning Outcomes:
- Learn how to use plain language and culturally aware communication strategies to support client understanding and engagement.
- Increase confidence in recognising and adapting to diverse communication preferences in a family violence context.
Please note: To ensure an interactive and engaging one-hour with our practitioner, each session is limited to 20 participants. To give everyone a fair chance, we ask that only one practitioner per organisation signs up. Please only register if you can fully commit to attending and actively participating, with your camera on/ready to interact with our speaker.
When registering, kindly use your work email address as inTouch will only approve registrations from official accounts. We’re excited to have you be part of this practical learning experience!
