Seeking: Advocates with Lived Experience of Family Violence

NOOR is a group of survivor-advocates from migrant and refugee backgrounds who use their lived experience to influence policy, services, and public discussions on family violence. Established by inTouch in 2018, NOOR provides a safe and supportive space for women to share their stories and drive meaningful change.

What NOOR Does:

  • Advises on family violence policies and service improvements
  • Supports new project design and development
  • Engages in media advocacy (anonymity available)
  • Consults with government and community organisations to ensure migrant and refugee’s voices are central to policy and reform

Who Can Join?

We welcome Expressions of Interest from migrant and refugee women and non-binary individuals who:

  • Have experienced family violence (at least one year ago)
  • Have exited support services for at least six months
  • Feel comfortable using their experiences to advocate for change
  • Are currently in a safe living environment
  • Can participate in online and/or in-person meetings

We strongly encourage applications from individuals who:

  • Identify as LGBTQIA+
  • Have lived experience of family violence as a young person, and are now 18+ years
  • Have navigated services as a temporary visa holder
  • Have arrived in Australia on humanitarian grounds
  • Have experienced forced marriage or dowry abuse
  • Have lived experience of disability
  • Are from diverse faith communities
