inTouch is at the forefront of providing integrated and culturally responsive services to women from migrant and refugee communities experiencing family violence. For over 40 years, we’ve championed the cause of our clients, helping more than 30,000 women, children and families to thrive despite the challenges they’ve faced. Our approach is unique and effective, thanks to our in Language, inCulture delivery model and our team’s profound and personal understanding of cultural sensitivities and the migration journey.

Responsibilities

  • Champion the rights and voices of migrant and refugee women experiencing family violence.
  • Provide strategic guidance and oversight to support the achievement of inTouch’s purpose and objectives.
  • Provide insight and expertise to inform our understanding of service responses to family violence in diverse communities.
  • Actively contribute to the development and implementation of organisational strategies and policies.
  • Leverage government and community networks to advocate for policies and initiatives that benefit individuals, families and communities from multicultural communities.
  • Provide financial oversight and ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with fellow board members, staff, and stakeholders to foster a culture of inclusivity, safety and accountability within the organisation.

Board Term

Directors are appointed for terms of up to three years and may be re-appointed. After serving three consecutive terms (9 years), a 12-month break is required before being eligible for re-appointment.

Remuneration

Board positions are voluntary. Directors may be reimbursed for reasonable out-of-pocket expenses incurred while carrying out Board duties, subject to prior approval.

Time Commitment

  • 8 meetings per year, usually in the afternoons and evenings
  • Participation in Board subcommittees or strategic initiatives, optional

ABOUT THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in at least one of the specified areas.
  • Previous experience as a Board Director, preferably within the Not-for-Profit sector.
  • Strong commitment to the values and purpose of inTouch.
