FAMILY VIOLENCE
Family violence is a pattern of behaviours where one person tries to dominate and control the other.
Examples of family violence behaviours
- emotional abuse
- physical abuse
- sexual abuse
- verbal abuse
- financial abuse
- psychological abuse
- isolating a woman from her friends and family
- stopping a woman from practicing her religion and culture.
Examples of family violence
Some examples of family violence is when your husband, partner or a family member:
- makes you feel scared in your own home
- always says they will cancel your visa and send you back home
- says bad things to you and makes you feel bad about yourself
- controls where you go and who you go with
- stops you from having any money
- always checks your phone
- stops you from talking to your friends and/or families
- threatens to take your children away from you
- tells you they hit you because you deserve it or because they love you
- hurts you in front of your children
- threatens to hurt your children
- makes you do sexual things you do not want to do.
